The Spark of a Storyteller

From a young age, I, KB Brar, have been a storyteller, driven by a passion for capturing life’s most precious moments. Growing up in the vibrant Central Valley of California, I found my calling in professional photography and videography, building a business renowned for its cinematic approach to weddings and cultural events. My work at KB Brar Photography focuses on a “romantic narrative” style, ensuring every client’s unique story is told with heart and focus.

Crafting Visuals in the Music Industry

Beyond weddings, my career took an exciting turn into the dynamic world of music videos. As a Director of Photography (DOP), I have had the privilege of collaborating with some of the biggest names in the Punjabi music scene. My portfolio includes numerous hits where I was responsible for the visual narrative and cinematography.

Taking Flight

While my professional life soared through weddings and music videos, I developed another passion that allowed me to literally take my creative vision to new heights: aviation. My journey in the skies began in earnest in 2019. I started my flight training from scratch, driven by the desire to merge my love for storytelling with the freedom of flight. This ambition led me to acquire my own vintage aircraft, a 1961 Mooney M20B, registration number N78903, which I love to pilot.

A Pilot’s Journey

The learning process was rigorous, demanding dedication and countless hours of study and practice. Through hard work, I achieved my commercial pilot certificate. To build experience and eventually qualify for the highest level of certification (Airline Transport Pilot, which requires 1,500 hours), I have dedicated significant time to flying, using every opportunity to hone my skills. In a thread on the Mooneyspace.com forum, I shared my goal to build hours and become a more proficient pilot.

Merging Passions

This hobby has seamlessly integrated into my professional life. I frequently use my Mooney to travel to different locations for photoshoots and wedding coverage, often sharing glimpses of my flights on social media. Flying allows me efficiency and adds an adventurous edge to my destination wedding work. Delivering photo albums or meeting clients often involves a flight in my own plane, a personal touch that bridges my two worlds. The sky, much like a wedding day or a music video set, offers endless perspectives, and I’m grateful I can navigate all of them, always ready to capture the feeling, not just the frame.
